Recruiting Combine - SOLD OUT!

St. Mark's School, Southborough MA

July 27 – 29, 2018

A middle school club team tryout. Picture it. Drills. Drills. Drills. Scrimmage. Decision.

But if we’ve learned nothing else in our 27 years at this it’s this…your least impressive sixth grader, one you’d certainly cut using the typical formula, could be your very best eighth grader.

So we’ve decided to turn the process upside down. Rather than simply look for “laxers” when trying out Littleneck hopefuls, we’ve decided to look deeper. After all, we’re not just looking for a lacrosse player; we’re looking for a relationship that will open college doors for your son one day.

So along with the requisite lacrosse skill evaluation, the first ever Top Gun Littlenecks Recruiting Combine will incorporate measurement of your son’s:

  • Strength

  • Speed

  • Quickness

  • Athleticism

  • Coachability

  • Drive

  • Hustle

  • Etc.

For this, we’ve brought in Malcolm Chase, President of RPM Lacrosse Elite Training System, to direct. In addition to being one of the area’s most respected trainers of young athletes, he was also an outstanding player in his own right.

At the beginning of the Combine, Coach Chase’s team will conduct baseline testing of each participant to measure speed, quickness, agility, etc. Then re-test at the Combine’s conclusion to determine progress in these areas.

They will follow up with a written, personalized report on your son’s strength’s, areas for improvement, and a plan for his continuing improvement in pursuit of his maximum athletic potential.

Aiding Malcolm and his staff will be the Littleneck coaches, naturally, joined by a rotation of Clam coaches.

And as for your son’s lacrosse skills, my staff will provide each participant with a verbal, face-to-face report at the Combine’s conclusion, allowing for follow up questions from you and your son. Those candidates invited, and those deferred, will learn of our decision before leaving.

At check in, each participant will receive a cinch sak “performance pack” with a Combine schedule, energy bars and snacks, sports drinks and a numbered custom Combine jersey to keep.

To further aid his performance, St. Mark’s award –winning food service team will prepare nutritious, training-table inspired meals for all breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

The entire evaluation takes place over a full weekend of activity, July 27 – 29 (with two overnights), yet another departure from the typical tryout scenario. The venue is St. Mark’s School, Southborough. We will evaluate players entering the 6th, 7th and 8th grades, and on an exception basis, those entering the 5th grade.

The cost of the Combine ($395) is significantly lower than most overnight lacrosse options of similar length, to make it less of an obstacle to participate. Further, those who are selected by the evaluators to join the ‘Necks will have their full Combine tuition credited towards their Littleneck membership.
