Two more commitments makes 32

Two more Clams head to D3 powers

Yesterday, two of our stronger Clams from the past couple seasons chose to play D3 programs that could very well vie for national recognition in the next few years. And in the case of one, that national recognition may well come in the form of another NCAA Championship.

The first commitment of the two to reach me came from Trevor Morrissette, a senior midfielder from Bedford NH, who became the second player this year to choose Eastern Connecticut, joining Mike Fanning, a defenseman from Norwell. In so doing, he will be joining a Clam from last year's team, Donald Berube from Tewksbury, who according to Coach Axel had a fine freshman "fall ball", and may very well press for time right away.

With one or two more Clams considering Eastern Connecticut for this coming fall, Eastern Connecticut is becoming a program with a solid concentration of past Clams, which one would assume will only be good for the program's future.

The second commitment came from Alex Haigis, a senior defenseman from Marblehead MA, who when deciding between both D1 and D3 options chose perennial title contender Salisbury University. As far as a lacrosse challenge, few prove more rigorous than Salisbury in any division. But with the hard work often comes the payoff, as Salisbury is a near fixture in the playoffs deep into May. And, of course, over the past decade few teams if any are more likey to take a D3 Championship than the Salisbury Sea Gulls.

With these two commitments, we now stand at 32 players from either this past summer or fall going onto play collegiate lacrosse. Below are the others. It is with pride that I list each player, and their program-to-be, below:
