Clam junior picks #1

Clams junior commits to pre-season #1 Duke Blue Devils

Will Walker, a junior at Phillips Andover Academy, committed earlier this week to be a part of the Duke Blue Devils 2011 recruiting class. In choosing Duke, the #1 ranked team in Inside Lacrosse's pre-season poll, Will becomes the second Fighting Clam attackman to head to Duke in the past few years. The last one, Max Quinzani (Duxbury, MA), is now a senior, and has already had a very distinguised career with the Blue Devils.

Whenever a Fighting Clam chooses to go and play college lacrosse, my entire coaching staff and I feel a true source of pride. But of course there are those special instances where players get to carry to torch for both the club team and high school program they represent in a unique way. One such way is choosing to attend and play with a D1 national title contender. And of course when this occurs, everyone follows that individual just a little more closely. This is a responsibility that a player cannot take lightly. And, like others before him, I am certain that Will will not either.

Below is a list of former Clams who is either currently participating in a program ranked in the D1 top 20 list as of the end of '09*, or has committed to do so in a year or two:
