TOP GUN LACROSSE CELEBRATES ITS 25TH CAMP SEASON

Rising Clams Summer 2010 begins

Rising Clams start 2010 off on right foot

The majority of the 2010 Rising Clams started their summer tour this past Sunday and old reliable event for us - the IAS Showcase, held this summer at Forekicks in Marlboro, Mass. As always, this very convenient event featured solid competition, and a valuable training opportunity.

Starting as were without any prep (our first practice is after our first event), I told my players that my primary goal was to see improvement in each game we played. And I can say that without question that this was the case.

Though no score is kept at this event - it is a "recruiting showcase" and not a "tournament" - we informally keep our own tally on the sideline for our records, and to track the performance of individuals. This is done primarily so that we can have more information to form lines with and special teams for the remainder of the summer. And according to our statisticians on the sideline (i.e. - the backup goalies), we were either 2-1-1 or 3-1 (their was a discrepancy on one of the sheets that is hard to decipher, though frankly at this event it hardly matters).

Bottom line: coming out of this event, we as coaches feel we have a much better idea of both the players we'll be playing with this summer, as well as the team as a whole.

Below our the statistics for Sunday's four games. I doubt they're completely accurate, but they should be pretty close. A photo will also be posted as soon as I receive it. Enjoy!
