TOP GUN LACROSSE CELEBRATES ITS 25TH CAMP SEASON

NCAA season begins; a few Clams already leave mark

Only fifteen D1 teams have started, yet a few Clam alumni are already showing up in box scores

While I won't begin the Clam top 10 list for a couple weeks, to give more teams a chance to get going, I do want to give a taste of what's to come. In going through the box scores from actual games, I saw a couple former Clams' names show up.

Gus Quinzani, a junior midfielder from Duxbury High School, notched a goal vs. Lehigh. However, the games outcome didn't go in the St. Joseph's Hawks favor, as they fell 7-16.

Luke Duprey, a freshman LSM from Phillips Andover Academy, had an assist in his first college game. Luke, a Clam in the summer of 2008, was the highest ranked defensive prospect in the country's 2010 recruiting class. In the same game, former Middlesex midfielder Dave Lawson tallied a goal and added 3 assists. While Dave was not a Fighting Clam - he played in the well respected Team Central program - Dave did play for our Littlenecks team in 9th grade (then our 9th/10th graders were known as Littlenecks, not Rising Clams as they are now). And Dave also worked as a counselor at our Aces camp this past summer, and proved to be a true asset as a teacher of the game.

And news reports come to me from scrimmages as well, trickling in from players, parents and spectators. So far, I've heard that Jordan Greenfield (Rivers School) has been starting at attack as a freshman in the scrimmages for Fairfield, that Garrett Campbell (St. Johns Prep) is running with Harvard's second attack line as a freshman, and had a goal and an assist yesterday as the Crimson soundly defeated Loyola. I also heard that Chris Langton (St. Johns Prep, junior at Cornell) is a first line midfielder, and that Justin Kirchner (BB&N, freshman) had his first collegiate goal last week for Colgate. Obviously this is just the tip of the iceberg, but is impressive nonetheless for these former Clams.
