TOP GUN LACROSSE CELEBRATES ITS 25TH CAMP SEASON

It's been a wild Sept. for Clams choosing college programs

Decommitments, recommitments & plain old commitments all present in exciting stretch for Clams choosing collegiate paths While I've been updating our facebook page regularly, it's been a while since I've done the same on our web page. This news recap will be my attempt to sum up everything that's occurred so far in the month of September. Needless to say, it's been an interesting couple weeks.

Right out of the gates, it started with the first of two players changing his mind. Conor Helfrich (Lawrence Academy, attack) had committed to the University of Delaware last fall. Since then, some changes occurred in Delaware's coaching staff, and apparently in Conor's mind. And without knowing all the specifics, I do know that very early in the month, Conor changed his plan, and gave his commitment to Tufts University.

The next decommitment also came from a Delaware commit, as Will Ryan (Avon Old Farms, goalie) changed his future plans, and will fulfill a childhood dream to become a Johns Hopkins Blue Jay. As is the case with Conor, I do not know all the specifics of Will's case. What I do know is that Will is a players who followed the recruiting "scene" closely. And of course, every decommitment is an opportunity for someone else displaying enough proactivity to sieze the vacancy. And it was not long after Will heard of the 2012 class's Hopkins goalie's decommitment that he had apparently seized what he saw as an opportunity he couldn't ignore.

The next commitment was another D3 commitment, and also our 7th to the coveted NESCAC. This one came from Nate Menninger (Newton North, defense/LSM), who after a second visit to Hamilton College, decided it was the place for him. Nate will join Duxbury High School attackman Sam Sweet, and Norwell High School middie Joe Ricciuti, as our third Colonial in the 2012 class. Nate played on our Clams Orange team this summer, and was a focal point of the team's defensive unit.

The last commitment found its way just this morning, as Ryan Macri (Governors, defenseman) informed me that he'd decided to commit to the University of North Carolina, becoming our fourth 2013 to choose his college path. Ryan was part of a dominant Clams 2013 defensive unit that was among the country's best in its class. Ryan joins our 3 other D1 '13 commits: Nick Desisto (Rivers, headed to Loyola), Johnny McNamara (Brewster, headed to Loyola) & Nick Weston (Aquinas Institute, headed to Syracuse).

With numerous offers currently having been made to no less than a half dozen Clams in both the 2012 and 2013 classes, I expect the second half of September to be even more active than the first. I'll try to keep this website updated a bit more regularly. But, as always, I will update these commitments far more regularly on our facebook page.

To date, below are all the 2012 and 2013 commitments I'm aware of at this time:
