Comments: The 16AA squad got stronger as the Baltimore Kickoff tournament wore on.  We started off with a tight 5-3 loss to Green Turtle and proceeded to lose our second game to a very strong Looney's lacrosse club.  Our turning point came in game three against the Tar Heels where our offense led the way. Attackmen Ryan Parsons and Alex Parent highlighted this effort.  Parsons was impressive in his ability to beat his defender and stick shots while Parent displayed a smooth pair of hands and a knack for finding open space on the field.  This win marked the end of day one and provided the momentum we needed heading into game 4 Sunday morning...

Ward Mahoney (our lone All-Star) and Chris Rota were key contributors in game 4 as our face off unit dominated.  Lee Petrini and Michael Hart were also big in this facet of the game wreaking havoc in the middle of the field and coming up big on ground balls.  We capitalized on our offensive opportunities and our defense secured the victory.

Our final game saw a strong offensive effort from Matt Paul who displayed great skill with some nice finishes in tight and a beautiful feed in transition.  Brian Gillis came up big in the midfield using his speed to beat his man on long dodges, and Aidan Long had a great game in the cage.  This win capped our weekend off with a 3 game win streak and an overall record of 3-2.

I was very proud of our entire team and their ability to respond after starting off 0-2.  The boys maintained a positive attitude and strong work ethic throughout the weekend, and I believe this speaks to the character of the 2016 players.  In our final 3 wins, I believe that our defense led us to victory - McCrae Williams had a very good tournament from start to finish in the net, and defenders Ben Snow and Josh White were also solid throughout.
