2017 & 2018 'Necks Stowe Write Up

The 2017 & 2018 'Necks head to Stowe, VT on their last stop of the summer circuit.

Event Record: 5-0

Overall Summer Team Record: 17-4

COMMENTS:

The "Necks 2017 Orange Team finished out a strong 2013 season with a 5-0 record and the Tournament Championship at the Bitter Lacrosse Festival in Stowe, Vermont.  The weekend was bracketed with crazy micro burst storms that left widespread power outages and trees down everywhere and a Championship game that was equally impressive.  After three well played pool games against the NH Tomahawks, The Green Turtles and the VT Selects the team entered "out of pool play" with a 3-0 record.  The 'Necks then played a very talented NE Storm team and pulled off a come from behind 7-6 win.  That set the stage for the re-match the 'Necks had been hoping for.  The 2017 PT Power Penguins beat he 'Necks (6-4) earlier in the year in the Warrior PrimeTime tournament Championship game.  At Stowe, the 'Necks were ready to cope with this very quick and dynamic team. Coach Ryan Macri made a few defensive adjustments, and the team played its best game of the season. Revenge was sweet as the 'Necks posted a 4-0 shutout win.  A great closing effort to a very strong summer season.  The 2017  'Necks Orange finished the season with an impressive 17-4  record and two championships. Congratulation to everyone on a great summer and a tremendous team effort to close out the season.

2018 'NECKS

Comments: It was another solid effort by the 2018 Orange squad at Stowe this past weekend.  After a disappointing opening loss to the Penguins (in which the Necks battled back from a 6-2 second half deficit to tie the game late), the 18’s delivered their most impressive victory of the season, thrashing the New England Storm (which beat the Penguins 8-1) by a score of 10-2.

Everything came together for the boys against the older Storm squad, led by Kiernan Stone and John Tomaselli at defense, Nicky Sobell and Jack Meyer at middie, and superb attack play from Eric Civetti, Chris Bucking and Nick Bevacqua. Macklin Fitzpatrick was, once again, solid from the face-off X and delivered at both ends of the field all weekend.  Another solid tournament for midfielder Reed Findlay as well, who battled through a groin injury and gave everything he had all weekend!   The Necks closed out the tournament with a pair of wins on Sunday to earn a solid 3-2 record for the tournament.

Finally, special kudos to defenseman Patrick Kaveny who joined the Necks for his first tournament this weekend, and impressed throughout, both in terms of his athletic play and his adjustment to a new system and new teammates.

Great summer 2018s; keep up the hard work!!
