Title: Two more Clams head to D3 powers
A couple Fighting Clams opt to stay closer to home, compete for local standout programs

As the seniors continue to receive their acceptances, more and more Clams now feel it's OK to voice with confidence that they know where they're headed. And this past week, New England D3 lacrosse got two more solid players.

First it was Austin Weeden of St. Bernards, who let me know that he had decided to attend Western New England College this coming fall. The buzz in the lacrosse community is that the John Klepacki-led Western New England Golden Bears are developing a cult-like following in Division 3, and this following has helped the program surge to a top 10 pre-season ranking. Austin, who attended just a couple Clam tournaments over the past couple years, will be challenged at WNEC. But with plenty of size and strength, Austin should have what it takes to steadily climb through the ranks.

Next up was Dylan Gatto, always one of our scrappiest and most persistent player. After being pursued by a handful of local D3's including Eastern Connecticut State (amazingly, for once ESCU missed on a Clam), Springfield and Western New England among others, Dylan chose to head north of the border to attend Keene State, joining Top Gun Fighting Clams coaching staff member Alec Corliss. Dylan has a knack for getting to the goal and finishing in tight spaces, and should fit very nicely as a Keene State Owl.

The tally of seniors and juniors committed since last summer now stands at 39. Scroll down to see all the rest. And, of course, our congrats go out to both Austin and Dylan on their newly finalized plans.
