Duke senior Max Quinzani is the player considered more responsible than any other for putting the Fighting Clams on the map several years ago. Max broke onto the scene in the summer of 2003 as a freshman. And even than, all who saw him play knew he was special. I distinctly remember one of the coaches of the Tri State "Black" team (their best) saying to me just after Max had carried us to victory: "you mean we got to see that kid for three more years".
Seven years and many lacrosse games later, Max is considered by many to be the best college lacrosse player in the land. The article below is from the Duke lacrosse web site, and is one of several that you can find if you dig a little on the more prominent lax web sites.
We'll know soon whether Max, or some other exceptional player, gets the Tewaaraton nod. But one thing's for sure: all Clam coaches past and present are extremely proud to say that Max came out of our club program. This is certainly true of no one more than me.
